Simple Ultra – India’s First 400km Range EV Scooter Launched

Range anxiety has been the single biggest barrier to electric scooter adoption in India. Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based EV startup, has just taken a direct shot at that problem.

Simple Energy has officially launched the Ultra electric scooter in India, priced at ₹2,34,999 ex-showroom.

The headline number is impossible to ignore. The Simple Ultra claims an IDC-certified range of 400 km, making it India’s longest-range electric scooter to date.

To put that in perspective, the Simple Ultra’s 400 km claim significantly outstrips competitors like the Ather 450X at 161 km real-world range and the Ola S1 Pro at 195 km IDC range.

That’s not a marginal improvement; that’s a completely different category of product.

Simple Ultra -What Powers the 400 km Range

The Simple Ultra is powered by a 6.5 kWh battery, which Simple Energy calls the largest ever fitted on an electric scooter in India. Paired with that battery is a motor producing 8.8 kW and 72 Nm of torque, giving it a top speed of 115 kmph and a 0–40 kmph sprint in 2.77 seconds.

Simple Energy positions the Ultra as the second fastest scooter in its lineup, behind the Simple One 5 kWh variant. So this isn’t just a long-range tourer — it has genuine performance credentials too.

The Simple OneS Gen 2 is the most affordable option with a 3.7 kWh battery, 190 km range, and is priced at approximately ₹1.50 lakh.

Lifetime Warranty  on the Electric Scooter

Simple Energy has announced a lifetime warranty on both the electric motor and the battery pack across its Gen 2 and Ultra portfolios.

For a buyer spending ₹2.34 lakh on an electric scooter, this is a significant confidence booster and a move no major competitor has matched yet.

What the CEO Said

Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO of Simple Energy, said: “Indian commuters are not one-size-fits-all, and a growing segment clearly demands extreme range and performance without compromise. Simple Ultra is built precisely for that customer.

Backed by over four years of in-house R&D, it delivers an industry-first 400 km IDC range, setting a new benchmark for electric two-wheelers in India.”

Where Can You Buy It?

The Simple Ultra is available for purchase through Simple Energy’s official website as well as its physical retail outlets.

Test rides are currently underway in select cities, and deliveries have already commenced.

Simple Energy currently operates close to 70 touchpoints across India, with presence in cities including Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Chennai, and Goa, with further expansion to Nagpur, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar planned.

The scooters are also available on Amazon and Flipkart.

Final Thoughts

Simple Energy is preparing for an IPO in Q2–Q3 FY27, targeting approximately $350 million, and aims to achieve EBITDA positivity before the end of FY26.

The Ultra launch is clearly a strategic move to establish brand credibility and grab market share before going public — and a 400 km range claim on a production scooter is exactly the kind of headline that does that.

For Indian buyers who’ve been waiting for an electric scooter that can truly replace their petrol vehicle without any compromise on range, the Simple Ultra is the most compelling answer the market has produced so far.
